    We'd rather you try it before you buy it, so here are two free Awareness Through Movement® (ATM) lessons in audio format to give you a better idea of how Feldenkrais® can work for you. Just click on the thumbnails to get started.

    You'll notice they are in audio format rather than in video. We've done this as your focus needs to be internal, rather than external. These ATMs are designed to be an exploration of your movement patterns. In an ATM class the instructor doesn’t demonstrate the movements. S/he is taught how to give very specific instructions so that the participants can follow the verbal instructions without changing to an external focus.

    Now that you've done the intro, please feel free to try the sample lessons below.

    A great example of how using your whole body to move, can give you greater ease of movement.

    Awareness Through Movement is about your personal process and as such you need to become more aware of your own sensorium - sensory awareness needs to be developed.

    In ATM there are no mistakes, every movement you do, whether it is exactly what the instructor described or not, are all variations on the theme of the lesson. As you become more aware of your body and more skilled at listening to the instructions you will know exactly how to execute the movement in the most functional way for your nervous system at any given time.

    This lesson shows how small, simple movements increase your ability to move.

    By releasing tension in the back you facilitate greater movement when you bend forward.

     

    You will notice the Feldenkrais® ATM lessons are a little different from regular exercises. To ensure you get the most of them please listen to the Intro before trying the sample lessons.
