    Speaking Engagements

    Speak Up!

Ever wonder why pain persists when an injury is healed, how to avoid a sore back during gardening season, or how to lengthen your hamstrings so that you can touch your toes without stretching yourself on the rack? Do you know just how your body works and why you should use your sit bones to sit?

These are just some of the questions that are answered when you invite Sandra to speak at your private or corporate event.

Everyone from health care professionals to fitness trainers and the general public will enjoy Sandra's no-nonsense and humourous way of getting important information to your group.

Speaking engagements are always accompanied by audience participation; to augment the learning experience.

Topics include (but not limited to):

    Learning to Improve:

No matter what your sport or activity of choice is, there seems to come a point for many people where you either maintain your ability level or go into a downward slide. Why is it that a few people continue to improve and most don’t? How do we learn to improve? What are the physical components that are necessary to continue to up-level performance? What is the “moving mind”? How is the neuro-motor system involved? Why doesn’t practice make perfect?

What is the Feldenkrais Method and why is it the wave of the future?:

Developed my Moshe Feldenkrais during the last half of the 20th Century, the Feldenkrais Method uses movement to change your mind. Learn more about this fascinating method for increasing your ability to move and improve. Whether you are an visual artist, Olympic downhill skier, dancer or someone that wants to be out of pain, the same principles apply as it is all about accessing potential and learning to be who we really are.

    Beyond Pain & Injury:

At times recurring pain or movement restrictions simply seem to be resistant to treatment. As far as pain treatment goes we seem to be trying to squeeze a square peg into the proverbial round hole. However, in the past 20 years more has been learned about the nature of pain than at any other time in human history and when we understand pain we can do something about it. Learn about the nature of pain and strategies to alleviate pain.

The Pleasure Principle—New Hope for Aching Creaky Bodies:

Let’s face it, we Baby Boomers are getting older and our bodies are starting to let us know that we’re not as young and lithe as we used to be. However, restriction, discomfort and pain are not an inevitable outcomes of the aging process. You really can grow older and feel younger but you have to learn to be more relaxed in your body and to use less effort than you think is necessary.

Releasing Into Length—Allowing Your Hamstrings to Relax:

Tight hamstrings are one of the most common complaints of young and old alike. Why don’t stretching exercises permanently release tight muscles? Find out why the brain will willingly allow muscles to lengthen without a struggle when given appropriate information.
