Why did you do Feldenkrais today?

September 8, 2015

Following is my response when asked, "Why did you do Feldenkrais today?"

I do an Awareness Through Movement lesson almost every day and have done since 1994. I do it for many reasons. The main one is that I always feel wonderful during and after spending time feeling movement on a deep level. I also become more aware of the thoughts and emotions that run concurrent to the movements I do--when I'm in that state of deep connection I am in a place of self-honesty and am more willing to go into the felt sense I often gloss over when I'm busy.

I also believe as a Feldenkrais practitioner I need to continually grow and learn so I can be more effective with my clients. The best way I know to do that is to get down on the floor and experience Moshe's original lessons. I will often choose a theme and work with it for several months as I search for and experience relevant lessons.

My passion for this work has never abated. I've tried other modalities for personal practice but have never been able to stay with them the way I have with the Feldenkrais Method. I'm a lifelong learner and this work gives me the opportunity to continue expanding and growing in all aspects of my life.

How about you? Why do you do Feldenkrais? Would you like to know more about Feldenkriais?
